Father Dominic Walter Germeshausen OP

laid back his life into the hands of Our Lord.

He was born in Ferna, Eichsfeld County at January 19th, 1944, becomes a member at The Order of Preachers and was ordinated as their priest in autumn 1972.

He served in Bielefeld, Warburg, Gottingen and Hamburg for pastoral care as well as a teacher of religious education.

In Taiwan and The People's Republic of China he teached Theology for Priest Candidates in chinese language.

We thank God to having given us this fine Brother and pleads for your pray to our beloved departed.

Father Dominic was born at January 19th, 1944 in Ferna, Eichsfeld County, Thuringia / Former Eastern Germany (GDR known as German Democratic Republic) and grew up with three brothers. After high school graduation he entered at June 2nd, 1963 The Order in Warburg, Former West-Germany (FRG known as Federal Republic of Germany), where he made profess a year later.

He started his philosophic-theological studies 1964 at the University of The Order of Preacher in Walberberg, FRG. Even during these studies he committed to go to mission for our province in Taiwan. November 24th, 1967 he was asigned to our House of The Order in Chachow (Taiwan) and starts his study of chinese language.

His study of theology brought him back to Germany where he was ordinated as a priest for the holy church and its dominican order at October 14th, 1972 at the Convent Church of Walberberg due Auxiliary Bishop Frotz of Cologne.

Before he went back to Taiwan he served in Germany at different places like Gottingen, Warburg and Hamburg as a teacher of religious education or pastor for prisioner.

When he ended his studies of the chinese language in Hamburg/GE he went back to mission at the beginning 90th. In Taiwan he got closer to a group of The Order, checked out possibilities to serve at continental China.

Father Dominik had teached Candidates of Priest as a Professor in Shanghai and Manchuria. He translated at first the mediaeval opus of Master Eckhart in chinese language and recruited competence Coworkers therefore.

Lined through worry sickness he comes back to Hamburg and reunited fatherland in October 2005 for medical care. Here he got also his inner circle of friends.

His life was carried by the catholic faith of his Eichsfeld heimat. The ideals he deeply believed in, were to bring young people education due teaching and friendship, celebrate the faith in eucharist, stand for peace and justice and understand the great tradition of The Order of Preachers to spread its spirituality.

His philologic interests qualified him to work on international base. He enjoyed to lived with people with different culture background.

Father Dominic laid back his life into the hands of Our Lord in Eastern Days of Penance. We strongly believe that he will take part on the eternal easter festival of Jesus Christ.
